EDSE 513-614 – Special Topics in Gifted & Talented Education

A Special Education Professional Renewal Course

Tied to Attendance at the Colorado Association for Gifted & Talented COnference

This course is in conjunction with attendance at the Colorado Association for Gifted and Talented (CAGT) Fall 2017 Conference on October 16th & 17th. Topics which may be addressed are definitions of giftedness; characteristics, traits and needs of learners with gifts and talents; assessment and identification of gifted learners; and appropriate curriculum for high ability, high potential learners.

To complete this course, you will...

  • Attend a session during every scheduled block.
  • Maintain a log of all sessions attended including keynote addresses.
  • Write a 5-page paper reflecting on one or more of the sessions you attended, describing your thoughts about the topic and how you will be able to incorporate some of the ideas presented in the session into your teaching or professional work.

If any prerequisites are required, they will be listed above. Prerequisites require an instructor override in advance of your registration in Ursa. Please contact the instructor before registering to provide proof of completion of the prerequisite course. Other UNC staff are not able to assist with prerequisite overrides for registration.

Non-degree seeking graduate status refers to a student who has at least a Bachelor's degree and has either applied to our Graduate School and not yet been admitted or is wanting to take classes but not pursue a degree. Please note, as a non-degree seeking student, you are not eligible for Financial Aid.
