MUS 513-600 – Colorado All-State Middle School Choir Music Festival

A Spring 2019 Music Education Professional renewal Course

Course Objectives

Students will successfully prepare their own student(s) for CMASC Festival participation and discern ways in which to apply observed conducting and rehearsal techniques from CMASC rehearsals into their own teaching. Students will also evaluate and reflect on the effectiveness of the conducting gestures of guest clinicians are rehearsal technique of these nationally recognized leaders and compare their effectiveness to the sound of the ensemble.

Course Description

All State Middle School Choir (CMASC) will include the following components:

  1. Teacher musical preparation of their own students prior to the CMASC Festival.
  2. An All-State organizational/procedural meeting at the event.
  3. CMASC Festival rehearsal observations.
  4. Journal entry related to student preparation and events observed during of All State Middle School Choir rehearsals.
  5. CMASC Concert attendance.

Students will be required to obtain scores from the All State repertoire lists and prepare their own participating students prior to the CMASC event. The All-State Choirs are conducted by nationally known conductors.

Graduate Students

If any prerequisites are required, they will be listed above. Prerequisites require an instructor override in advance of your registration in Ursa. Please contact the instructor before registering to provide proof of completion of the prerequisite course. Other UNC staff are not able to assist with prerequisite overrides for registration.

Current UNC graduate students can register for this course.

UNC Non-Degree Seeking Students

Non-degree seeking graduate status refers to a student who has at least a Bachelor's degree and has either applied to our Graduate School and not yet been admitted or is wanting to take classes but not pursue a degree. Please note, as a non-degree seeking student, you are not eligible for Financial Aid.

Once You register

Registration Confirmation

Once registered, you will receive a registration confirmation letter in the mail. This letter will list the drop and withdrawal deadlines. If you wish to drop or withdraw from the course, you must contact the Office of the Registrar at registrar@unco.edu or 970-351-2231 on or before the deadline date. It is your responsibility to know the drop and withdrawal deadlines and procedures.

2. You will be billed for the cost of your course tuition.
