TEAM-UP – Math & Science Secondary Education Licensure


TEAM-UP (Teacher Education Alliance, Mines-UNC Partnership) is designed to give students and alumni from the Colorado School of Mines (Mines) a streamlined pathway to secondary science and/or mathematics teacher licensure. All TEAM-UP courses are either offered on-campus at Mines in Golden or online.

These pages are your home for the courses and support you will need through UNC. This program is supported by UNC Extended Campus.

Getting Started

How you apply for the TEAM-UP program differs based on whether you are a current undergraduate Mines student, or if you are a Mines alumnus or graduate student wishing to begin the program.

Current Mines Undergraduate Students

All current Colorado School of Mines undergraduate students should contact one of the individuals below for information on TEAM-UP courses:

Current Mines Graduate Students and Mines Alumni

You will need to apply to UNC and then submit your Statement of Goals:

  1. Apply to the UNC Graduate School
    • In the online application, you will find this program listed as Secondary Education, Post Baccalaureate (7-12) Endorsement Sci/Math TEAM-UP (Extended Campus).
    • Follow all graduate school application steps for the application fee and submission of official copies of your transcripts (GRE scores are not required for this program).
  2. You will then continue in the system (or log back in later) to submit the following:
  • A Statement of Goals. In 500-750 words, discuss:
    1. Your reasons for exploring teaching;
    2. Experiences you have had with secondary-aged youth (coaching, tutoring, etc.);
    3. Include your full name and either your date of birth or UNC Bear number.

Once you apply to the UNC Graduate School and your application packet is complete, your application will be reviewed by the graduate school then sent to the faculty/program for an admission decision. A completed application typically takes four to six weeks to process.
