Student Health Insurance Program (SHIP)

The University of Northern Colorado offers a Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) to all degree-seeking students who enroll in a minimum number of credits on our main UNC Campus, an Extended Campus center or online.

For Most Degree-Seeking Students

Degree-seeking students (this does not include certificate, licensure-only or endorsement-only students) will automatically receive this benefit each term if enrolled for the minimum number of credit hours:

  • Undergraduate students in bachelor's degree programs enrolled in 9 or more credit hours.
  • Graduate students in master's, educational specialist or doctorate programs enrolled in 6 or more credit hours.

SHIP premiums will appear on your semester bill.

Coverage Waiver Process

If you have comparable insurance coverage, and do not want to be charged for SHIP coverage, you must opt out of this plan by the 10th day of classes your first term (and each Fall term) via an online waiver process.

Please visit the UNC Student Health Insurance pages for more information about the insurance plan.
