A Graduate Certificate for Teacher Leadership Strategies at the School Site Level

The Teacher Leadership Graduate Certificate program is a 16-credit graduate program for those who wish to be leaders at the site level. This online teacher leadership certificate can be completed in just two academic terms (see the Get Started – Online Program page for details) and is designed for working teachers.

The program supports teachers' efforts to improve teaching and learning in schools. You will broaden your perspectives of leadership and how it functions within a school setting.

Certificate students will...

  • Develop best practices in teaching and learning activities.
  • Attain leadership strategies and capacities to engage in collaborative leadership with peers, administrators and the community.
  • Provide significant contributions to continuous school improvement efforts.
  • Develop the skill set to be a successful peer mentor and instructional coach.
  • Prepare for leadership roles in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).

Teacher Leadership and Progress For a Future Degree Program

Enhance your leadership skills and prepare for future career advancement with this certificate from the premier university for educator preparation in Colorado. Participants in the certificate program are practicing teachers (P-12) who are interested in site-based leadership activities, including Teachers on Special Assignment (TOSAs).

Additionally, all credits earned in this certificate program will count toward a potential future Educational Leadership Master of Arts (MA), Educational Specialist (EdS) or Principal Licensure from UNC should you choose to pursue one after the certificate.
