Nursing DNP – Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Emphasis (Post-Bachelor's) – Courses & Requirements

This program is 95 credit hours, which includes a capstone project and 1,065 clinical hours.

  • You can complete the program in 5 years, attending part-time (fewer than 9 credits per term).
  • This is a hybrid (partially face-to-face and online) delivery. You will attend one day per week (Thursdays) on campus in Greeley. Additional face-to-face hours are required for your scheduled clinical and practicum work.

Clinical Hours (1,065 Hours)

Clinical hours are completed via NURS 685 DNP Practicum (3)

You will complete a minimum of 1,065 hours in clinicals and practicums during the program. You will need to obtain your own clinical preceptors (licensed physician, nurse practitioner, nurse midwife or physician assistant). At least 200 of your total 1,065 clinical hours must be with a nurse practitioner.

DNP Capstone Project

Because of the clinical focus of this degree, rigorous academic standards are maintained throughout the program rather than completion of a dissertation. The student will complete a 6 credit hour DNP Capstone project. This will be an evidence-based, scholarly project designed by the student in collaboration with a faculty advisor (via the NURS 795 and 798 courses).
