A Summer 2026 Music Education Professional Renewal Course

This course is tied to attendance at the Colorado ACDA Summer Workshop.

This conference/workshop is focused on helping music educators and choir directors advance their skills as teachers and artistic leaders. Session content includes leadership development, pedagogical tools, repertoire selection and strategies for managing organizational details. A special focus will be centered around Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging in the choral setting, creating belonging and community for our students, and tools to connect our local church and community choir directors.

Upon completion of this course, teachers will be able to:

1. Reflect on and evaluate their own effectiveness.
2. Cultivate and select specific types of music appropriate for a choir.
3. Apply techniques in conducting and teaching.
4. Understand and anticipate the needs of choir members related to choir rehearsals.
5. Identify techniques to improve teaching and understanding of different choral styles.

Participants will be provided with access to online handouts, resource guides and repertoire lists during sessions throughout the conference.

Course is graded Satisfactory / Unsatisfactory.
