A Spring 2025 Music Education Professional Renewal Course
This course is tied to attendance and participation at the 2025 CMASC All-State Music Festival.
Course participation will include the following components:
- Teacher musical preparation of their own students prior to the CMASC Festival.
- Course meeting at the event.
- CMASC Festival rehearsal observations.
- Journal entries reflecting upon methods and strategies used in CMASC rehearsals.
- CMASC Concert attendance.
- Conversation with one colleague.
- Submission of lesson plan that implements the strategies observed in CMASC rehearsal in the teacher’s classroom.
For those taking two hours of credit, they will submit a project in the
month following the course in which they will record strategies they
have used in their classroom and reflect on their effectiveness OR serve
on the All-State board and provide a reflection about their experience
in guiding the All-State process.
Those serving on the All-State Board may opt for the 3 credit option.
This course is graded satisfactory / unsatisfactory.

Graduate Students
UNC Degree-Seeking Students
Current UNC graduate students can register for this course.
Non-Degree-Seeking Students
Non-degree-seeking graduate status refers to a student who has earned at least a bachelor’s degree and who either:
- Has applied to UNC Graduate School and has not yet been admitted.
- Wishes to take this graduate course but not pursue a degree.
Please note, as a non-degree seeking student, you are not eligible for federal financial aid for this course.
