Pro Tools Production Certification

Summer 2024 Professional Development Course for Musicians

This course is based on AVID’s Pro Tools materials and will cover what they define as Pro Tools Music Production I and II. The course will further take you into the world of the preeminent DAW (Pro Tools) in the world. There will be lectures, assignments, and short quizzes (available on the AVID website) that will brush up your previous knowledge stemming from our UNC Music Technology courses and prepare you to take AVID’s Certification Exams Pro Tools 201 (Production I) and Pro Tools 210M (Production II).

Upon successful completion of this course, you will...

  • Demonstrate experience and expertise in the Pro Tools environment.
  • Use Pro Tools for MIDI compositions, audio recording, editing and mixing.
  • Use Digital Signal Processing (DSP) to enhance audio recordings.
  • Use Virtual Instruments to record and mix MIDI performances.
  • Be ready to take AVID’s Certification Exam for Pro Tools 210M.

  • Eligibility

    Prerequisites

    Successful completion of MUS 343, 354, and AVID PT 110.

    Prerequisites require an instructor override. Please contact the instructor before registering to provide proof of completion of the prerequisite coursework. Other UNC staff are not able to assist with prerequisite overrides for registration.

    Undergraduate Students

    Non-Degree-Seeking Students

    If you are not seeking a degree at UNC, but have earned a GED or high school diploma, you may take this course (whether it is for personal interest; professional development; as a pre-requisite to a UNC program; or to transfer to another college or university). Please note, as a non-degree seeking student, you are not eligible for federal financial aid.

    Dropping and Withdrawing

    If you wish to drop or withdraw from the course, you must do so on or before the deadline dates listed in the Course Basics box.

    • If you are registered for any other courses in the same academic term, you can drop or withdraw within your Ursa account.
