Master's Degree, Endorsement, & Certificate Options for Teaching the Gifted, Talented & Creative

Help gifted students develop to their full potential and reach your own potential with an endorsement, certificate and/or a master’s degree focused on educating the gifted and talented. The curriculum for this program was developed through a collaborative effort of UNC faculty, colleagues from the public schools, and the Colorado Department of Education to specifically address the new standards for educators of gifted and talented students.

With the master's plus endorsement, endorsement-only and certificate options, our Gifted and Talented teaching program can serve both those with a bachelor's degree and those with a master's degree in education who are seeking the Gifted Education Endorsement.

Program Options

  • Gifted Education Graduate Certificate (Non-Endorsement) – The 12 credit hour graduate certificate provides a strong foundation in the field. Official certificate program listing in the UNC Graduate Catalog.
  • Gifted Education Core Endorsement (Ages 4-21) – The 24 credit hour endorsement includes all of the certificate coursework plus 12 additional credit hours. This program is aligned with the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Gifted Education Core (Ages 4-21) Endorsement. Official endorsement program listing in the UNC Graduate Catalog.
  • Special Education Master of Arts – Gifted Education Specialist Endorsement – The 33 credit master's degree program includes the endorsement program coursework plus nine additional credit hours. It is aligned with two CDE endorsements. You will complete your Gifted Education Core (Ages 4-21) Endorsement part way through the program and then be prepared for the Gifted Education Specialist (ages 4-21) endorsement as you complete the progam.
