For full program details, see the official program listing in the UNC Undergraduate Catalog. Please note that this program features 72 of the required major/PTEP credits delivered online over three years. The full degree requirements can be completed online in three years via a combination of any of the following: existing transfer coursework, potential future transfer coursework, and additional online course enrollment as needed at UNC. Please contact the Program Coordinator with any questions, and you will have an assigned Advisor once you are admitted.
Admission Requirements
You must meet the UNC undergraduate admission requirements for the academic year for which you are applying. See the current admission requirements in the UNC Catalog.
-
A strong candidate for transfer admission to UNC will have at least a 2.4 cumulative GPA from all schools attended and students with lower than a 2.4 GPA will be considered on an individual basis.
-
It is recommended but not required that you have 60 hours of transferable college credit or an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree.
Application Process
Thank you for your interest in this UNC program!
Please review the Eligibility section of the Program Summary page prior to application.
U.S. applicants (outside of Colorado) for online programs: please be sure to check your eligibility by state of residence.
-
Complete an undergraduate application using the button below.
-
Please indicate Distance-Online as your program site and Special Education: K-12 Teaching B.A. as your program on the application.
The application fee process will appear once you complete all application questions and submit the application.
-
Make sure to have official transcripts sent to UNC for all previously earned college credit. UNC admissions will use your submitted transcripts to determine credit towards overall degree completion. If you have questions about transfer credit or transcript submission, meet with an Admissions Coach.
Tuition
This is an Extended Campus program, which means a flat per-credit tuition rate for all students (in-state or out-of-state/international) and no student fees or technology fees. Please note: some courses may include assessment, course, participation or supervision fees for additional services and materials. Most Extended Campus courses do not include these fees, but you can check the current course-specific UNC Academic Fees. Note: Program Fees do not apply to Extended Campus.
Program tuition for the 2024-25 academic year (which runs Fall, Spring, and Summer terms) is $444 per credit hour. Tuition for the 2025-26 academic year will be determined mid-June 2025.
For information about paying your bill, including UNC's BearPay monthly payment option, visit the Bursar's Office Your Bill page.
Estimates of additional costs: For the purposes of determining financial aid, UNC follows Colorado Department of Higher Education (CDHE) and federal guidelines to develop an estimated, average Cost of Attendance (budget) for different student classifications. For your personal tuition estimates, we recommend using the program-specific tuition information above. But UNC's official Cost of Attendance/Student Budgets page can help you identify other estimated expenses for which you may be responsible while completing your program.
Upcoming Courses
Textbook requirements are available six weeks before each course begins. To find books for the courses you have registered for, go to Ursa and choose My Textbooks under the Student tab. Textbooks are also submitted to the UNC Bookstore, which is one option for you to purchase them.
Registering for *Non-Extended-Campus* Courses for LAC or Elective Requirements (If
Needed):
If you wish to take UNC courses not offered through Extended Campus, you can register
(if space is available) for campus-based sections of courses, but must follow certain
procedures to ensure that you are properly registered as an Extended Campus student
in the course.
Registration Steps for LAC/general elective courses
You will NOT need to use this process for the courses listed on this page.
